Biography

So Hui is a former ballet dancer from South Korea. She earned dual bachelor's degrees in Dance and Psychology from Sungkyunkwan University and a master's degree in Performance Psychology from the University of Edinburgh. So Hui has worked with performers, particularly performing artists, helping them reach optimal performance through mental performance interventions (e.g., mindfulness, self-talk, imagery, goal-setting). She is also interested in reducing risk behaviors that may contribute to distress and impact overall mental health through mindfulness-based interventions, which is one of So Hui’s primary research interests. Her commitment comes from her own experience in ballet, where she struggled with psychological concerns (disordered eating behaviors, negative body image, perfectionism, and performance anxiety), and now she hopes to help performers thrive and perform in healthier ways. In her free time, she enjoys watching baseball and esports.
