Biography

Ella is a doctoral student in the Sport, Exercise, and Performance Psychology Ph.D. program and a master’s student in the Clinical Mental Health Counseling M.S. program at West Virginia University (WVU). She is pursuing mental health counseling, mental performance consulting, coursework, and research with the hopes of becoming a Certified Mental Performance Consultant (CMPC) and a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC). Prior to WVU, Ella earned her Bachelor of Science degrees in Kinesiology and in Psychology from the University of Minnesota–Twin Cities. Ella works with competitive athletes of all ages to enhance performance through evidence-based mental skills training. Her approach is rooted in mindfulness, acceptance, and values-driven action, aiming to foster psychological flexibility, support holistic well-being, and empower growth and performance, both in and beyond sport. Ella’s research interests include mindfulness interventions, the coach–athlete relationship, and resilience in athletic performance. Her dedication and passion for working with athletes, stem from her past experiences as a Division-I swimmer and club coach, which highlighted the physical and psychological demands that athletes face. Ella is committed to helping athletes enhance holistic well-being and provide support in reaching personal goals through the use of evidence-based consulting skills and a person-centered approach. In her free time, she enjoys swimming, hiking, weightlifting, traveling, baking, and spending quality time with family and friends.
